Project Description:

The Summerhill Waste Management Centre, completed for City of Newcastle, comprised the temporary enabling works and structure to allow the facility to continue operating during the upgrade works. The project also involved demolition of the existing SWMC structure, bulk cut and fill of 9500m3 over 10,000m2, civil stormwater and sediment basins, the construction of the new 2,500m2 SWMC building, 2000m2 of external roads paving & kerbing, 1000m2 overflow carpark and kerbs, 70m long concrete precast wall 11m high along the existing LMS methane gas plant and 135m of concrete push walls.

This project forms part of the ongoing improvements occurring at Summerhill and council’s commitment to providing waste minimisation and recycling solutions to the community and ensuring the long term sustainability of waste management operations.

Work includes:

Slabs, Walls, Carpark and Kerbs, Concrete Push walls

TESTING:

Comprehensive slump and compression testing carried out throughout the job by Coffey International and Qualtest.

Shortland Correctional Centre Upgrade

Project Description: The new maximum security wing is part of a three-stage, 1000-bed expansion at the Cessnock complex.

The project will also include a health clinic, a sports and exercise area and 4000 square-metre programs and industries building that will provide an outlet for inmates to address their rehabilitation needs.

Location: Tyrell St, Wallsend

Project Description:

In August 2019 the City of Newcastle started its $3million replacement of Tyrrell Street Bridge in a major step towards combatting flooding which has plagued the local centre. The new higher and longer bridge will allow more floodwater to pass through the Hunter Water-owned channel during rain events. The existing Tyrrell Street road pavements adjacent to the bridge will also be raised to match the higher bridge level.

This project was completed in June 2020.

Work Includes:

The scope of works for this project consists of the demolition of the existing bridge and to construct a two-span, two-lane prestressed concrete plank road bridge, adjacent road works and ancillary stormwater and utilities adjustments.

Location: Hunter Valley, NSW

Project Description: Robson Civil Project Description: Construction of the Northern Water Dam (NWD) in the NSW Hunter Valley for client Glencore, to provide water storage for dewatering of open cut coal mining pits.  This will replace other water storages on the mine site that will in future, be removed due to mine expansion.

Project duration of 12 months at a value of $15m.

Work includes:

  • NWD Main Embankment consisting of 16m high zoned earth-fill embankment fitted with an exposed geomembrane sealing system (GSS) installed on the upstream slope
  • Controlled Release System consisting of concrete-encased steel pipework, a reinforced concrete energy dissipation structure
  • Controlled Release Outlet Works; Rockfilling outlet channel and stilling basin
  • Diversion Embankment consisting of 12m high zoned earth-fill embankment and spillway
  • Diversion Channel to bypass water around the north-eastern side of the NWD

WHAT WE DID:

Entire Concrete supplied the concrete and the 48mtr boom pump for the above project.

Concrete Mixes Used:  A full suite of mix designs where used for this project.  50Mpa through to lean mix. Shotcrete, grout etc

Testing: Coffey Testing performed countless tests throughout the job showing that our products delivered the best quality products to the job.
